Who’s ready to get warm and fuzzy? Like, Herbie Hancock Chameleon fuzzy?
We’ve got the spot.
It’s a rocking, lay-low 1970s chateau called Good Times at Davey Wayne’s, opening tonight in Hollywood.
About the name: it’s shared by the late father of owners Mark and Jonnie Houston (No Vacancy, Pour Vous).
Since their old man instilled a love of carpentry and treasure-hunting, the Houstons created an entrance inside a garage.
The garage itself consists of purchasable items — shoes, vintage vinyl, furniture, etc. — that the Houstons procure at flea markets and yard sales.
But like most Houston haunts, the actual door into the bar is secret.
And the bar itself is a replica of Mr. Houston’s living room, complete with a carpeted ceiling and taps for cold beers and Old Fashioneds (his favorite drink).
Cocktails are named for ’70s lyrics, like the Some People Call Me Maurice or the Cisco Kid.
Out back, there’s a bar in an old Airstream and a photo booth inside a VW Bug.
Bands perform ’70s rock, and on the weekends there’s a roller-skating duet.
On the BBQ: Texas-style brisket and pulled pork. Every Sunday they throw a pig roast.
Dad would approve. But then again, who wouldn’t?
