From the driving, to the parking, to the not knowing where to drive or park, dinner in LA is harder than it should be. That’s why we created Dinner Plan — your three-step itinerary to a damn good time.
This week: dinner and cocktails in Santa Monica. Here’s your plan.
The Shirt
We’re going to some nice places tonight. Self Edge just released some new button-downs that are made from indigo and linen. Cozy, slightly heavy fabric made for a night out in breezy Santa Monica.
The Dinner
Rustic Canyon’s Chef Jeremy Fox is a master of texture. His grilled peaches — placed around creamy ricotta in fresh olive oil — are expertly complemented by crispy fried polenta croutons. And he double-layers mini corn chips on top of his earthy clam pozole verde, a light Mexican stew that stays crispy till the last bite. Go. Go now.
The Cocktails
The mixologists behind Scopa just opened The Chestnut Club, a brick-walled, wood-raftered tippler’s haunt. It’s a welcome addition to the hood, which has few other good drinking options. In Chestnut’s bar: 75 unique bottles of mezcal distilled in Hudson Bourbon and Rye casks. Adds a whiskey note to the smoke from the mezcal. Also tasty: the Del Mar, a G&T with kumquats.
