From the driving, to the parking, to the not knowing where to drive or park, dinner in L.A. is harder than it should be. That’s why we created Dinner Plan — your itinerary to a damn good time. This week, we’re going downtown for a massive pizza festival followed by a night of high-class tippling.

Early Dinner:
Westlake District

Can you put back 20 slices of pizza from 20 different pizzerias? Might as well give it the old college try. Local spots like Prova, Settebello and Joe will be tossing dough alongside some great shops from around the country as well as a few from the motherland. To wit: Antica Pizzeria Port’Alba, the oldest pizzeria tavern in Naples, est. 1738, will be there. Taps will pour Golden Road beer. It’s all going down this Saturday at Los Angeles Center Studios, where they shot Mad Men. Tickets here.

The Cool Down: The Library Bar at the Mayflower
Westlake

It’s hot outside and you’re full of ‘za and hops. So go cool down at the newly remodeled Mayfair Hotel. It’s nearby, and their Library Bar is a swanky joint for an early evening tipple. They even have a pool table.

Drinks: Bar Caló
Echo Park

It’s easy to forget how close Echo Park is to downtown. Like, 10 minutes close. After the show, hop in a Lyft and head to Bar Caló. This mezcaleria has a cocktail called the Brown Buffalo (mezcal old fashioned) that’s a perfect closer for the evening. It’s a small space from the folks behind Ostrich Farm, and you’ll definitely want to come back here for dinner sometime.
