Dinner Plan: Shake a Tailfeather

From the driving, to the parking, to the not knowing where to drive or park, dinner in L.A. is harder than it should be. That’s why we created Dinner Plan — your itinerary to a damn good time.

This week, we head to L.A.’s best new music venue, where the vibes are good, the drinks poured generously, and local artists reign supreme.

Dancing Shoes: Richards Zip
Midcity

Clae is a local shoemaker with a penchant for mashing-up traditional sneaker styles with dressier kicks. This is an endeavor that could end very poorly, but for Clae, seldom does. In fact, if there’s any one item your correspondent receives the most compliments on, it’s whatever Claes he happens to be wearing on that day (he owns three pairs). Their latest kicks, the Richards Zip, are a low boot done in collaboration with Highs and Lows. Finished in pigskin suede, these kicks are dressy enough for a night out and comfy enough to keep you on the dancefloor.

Get Fed: Tintorera
Silver Lake

Tintorera is the ideal precursor to a big, boozy night, and it’ll likely end up on everyone’s list of favorite patios. It’s big, but doesn’t feel so, thanks to the abundance of plants. It’s also fairy-light-lit. And it’s happening. Chef Maycoll Calderón may have one of the best bio pages in restaurant history. He brings a sense of playfulness to Mexico City-style food, which leans more towards grilled fish and ceviche — a perfect base for a night on your feet.

Get Down: Zebulon
Silver Lake

Zebulon is housed in a nondescript industrial space in a sliver of Silver Lake that some call Frogtown due to its proximity to the L.A. River. The front bar can make a mean cocktail, and there’s a big outdoor patio that doubles as a parking lot. But the party is going on in the backroom. You can enter through the bar or through the barn doors on the side. When ?uestlove performed a DJ set, the dancing went on until the wee hours, and the vibe on the dancefloor was quite friendly.
