Even if you’re not a date-night auteur, you’ll rarely go wrong if you have three simple things:
Intimate setting. Delicious food. And confidence.
Get the benefit of all three at 42 Grams: a just-opened fine-dining experience in an unassuming Uptown storefront, now taking reservations.
This is your low-lit, full-service, impress-the-hell-out-of-her alternative to the typical cattle call standby.
42 Grams is run by the husband-and-wife duo behind the underground restaurant Sous Rising, with husband Jake Bickelhaupt — who cut his teeth at Charlie Trotter’s and Alinea — playing head chef.
Expect the same level of execution here, where you’ll saunter through an ever-changing 15-course tasting menu (get hungry with this excellent video).
42 Grams sets placemats Tuesday through Saturday, with one-to-two seatings a night. There are only 18 seats, and you can reserve your spot here.
Just don’t forget to bring a couple of bottles of wine to share.
It wouldn’t be a date without them.
