And while we’re all for auto purists and excellently-kept rides and all, can we not just live a little? Take risks? Break rules? Veer from the norm?
Be happy that somewhere, someone is driving a wildly impractical velvet-wrapped Maserati?

There are loads of impractical adjustments made to cars. Many, in this humble editor’s opinion, far more ghastly and excessive than a little jet-black ball-gown texturing.
And she’s not the first of her kind to go full fuzz — previous velvet wraps include a Ferrari 599, a Porsche Panamera, a Rolls-Royce Phantom DHC and more.
Sure, it might not do so hot in the rain. But if you have a fine a** sportscar and you want to cover it in velvet or Velveeta or whatever the heart desires — more power to you.
They say money can’t buy taste.
But isn’t one of the perks of having some serious F.U. money not caring what they have to say?
