We couldn’t be prouder if we were their own mothers.
A fleet of 12 Mercedes-Benz SUVs just successfully traversed 65 miles of the Scottish Highlands that are quite literally off-road for what is thought to be the first time ever. A hodgepodge of a G-Class, GLE and GLS rides, the two-day adventure involved river crossings, hill climbs and nary a single paved or maintained roadway.
Each one of the tuffies was outfitted with road-ready mud tires but little else in the way of modification other than a side-step removal that was required for a few of the makes. The GLE and GLS were, however, fitted with an “Off-Road package consisting of a center differential lock, protective underbody paneling, a low-range gearbox, fully manual mode for the automatic transmission, special off-road programming, plus an extra three selectable ride heights for the AIRMATIC suspension,” according to Carscoops.
The drivers plowed through rough terrain to the likes of gravel, rock, wet grass, rivers and full-on mud dives on their route with the permission of 11 landowners. The identity of which, for obvious reasons, they’ve decided to keep under wraps.
It’s just so blasted fantastic to see Mercedes 4x4s for something other than cruising around Hollywood.
