The first thing you need to know about Ken Block is that he’s a maniac — one of our favorite maniacs. Case in point: the way he owned the City of Asphalt in Gymkhana 7, drifting doughnuts around the iconic Randy’s Doughnuts shop with graceful lunacy.
The second thing you need to know is that this monster of his, known as the Hoonicorn, began life as a comparatively genteel ’66 Mustang. That was until Block hacked it up and threw in a dash of 845 horsepower.
And what do you do when you have a pony with all that power? Add more horsepower, of course. Because Block just revealed on Facebook that thanks to the wonders of methanol injection and a few gargantuan turbos, the venerable Hoonicorn V2 now has 1,400 stallions under the hood — or, rather, popping out of it.
Can you ever have too much horsepower? “The answer actually is … yes,” Block says, “this thing is damn scary to drive. Ha.” Be he insane, genius or both, we dig it. Heck, most of our favorite stories start with, “This is a terrible idea.”
