Ford is taking its production line into the space age.
The automaker announced Monday that it would be testing the use of a 3-D printer in producing car parts, tools, and customization components, according to Yahoo Finance.
It won’t be just any 3-D printer that Ford will be using. The machine, called the Infinite Build, is made by Stratasys and performs large-scale printing jobs. The machine is so advanced that it can “… sense when it’s out of printing material” and replenishes the supply by itself.
In other words, it’s almost fully autonomous.
