The Race of Gentlemen Comes to California for the First Time Ever

By Reuben Brody

Leather jackets. Articulated denim. Black boots.

Plenty of men in L.A. dress like they race motorcycles and hot rods.

And now they’re getting a chance to prove it.

The occasion: The Race of Gentlemen, a carnival of pre-war cars and bikes by way of New Jersey that will hit the sands of Pismo Beach for the first time this fall.

Part drag race, part classic car convention and part bonfire-fueled after-party, TRoG is the perfect trip for fathers and sons, gearheads or any man who appreciates vintage style. It started in Wildwood, New Jersey, a few years ago, and has grown each year on its way to becoming a heralded and beloved event for motor enthusiasts.

This edition will be the first one staged on the West Coast.

And we’ve got a sneak peek at some of the cars that’ll be in attendance.
